The Solidarity Effect

In December 2009, Heather and Kevin Murch went on air with “The Solidarity Effect” radio show, broadcasting on KNDS-LP 96.3FM in the Fargo, ND area.  The show is based on real life experiences that both Kevin and Heather have gone through and the day to day issues that affect working people throughout the country.

After meeting in early 2003, Kevin and Heather realized that they had many things in common, one of which was their unwavering support and understanding of unions due to being raised in union households.  Married in 2005, Kevin and Heather began their life journey together, fighting for the working class that they are so very much a part of.  Kevin has been an active member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) since 1994 and have held many different leadership positions, including current North Dakota Organizing Coordinator and President of the Dakota States Council of Machinists.  Heather was a member of the Office and Professional Employees Internationals Union (OPEIU) until recently joining the IAM in the last couple of years.  Heather has served in many union capacities as well, including serving on the North Dakota AFL-CIO Executive Council and Iowa Hawkeye Labor Council while with OPEIU.

Kevin and Heather’s philosophy is that in order to change the direction of country into a more progressive, more working-class-friendly course, the public needs to hear from people just like them, not some multi-millionaire radio talking head that is totally disconnected from the real struggles of the working class.  By coming together in “a solidarity effect”, people from many different viewpoints can come together for the benefit of all.  The Solidarity Effect is a labor talk radio show of the people, by the people and for the people, with an emphasis on being straight-forward and to the point on issues that face all Americans that have a vested interest in the success of our country.

Kevin and Heather have 4 wonderful children, ages 10-17, and live in the Fargo-Moorhead metro area.  They love to spend outside camping, fishing and doing activities in the snow during the long winter months!
